the fact that people are like “Coca Cola supports racial equality, I’m not going to be drinking Coca Cola anymore” and “Google supports gay rights I’m not going to use them anymore” like what next “the Earth provides Oxygen to ethnic minorities I’m going to stop breathing in protest”
Les malheurs de Sophie (Sophie’s misfortunes) by the Countess of Ségur is a traditionnal french children’s book. It tells the story of a little girl who tends to be mischievous and ill-tempered, and how she grows up to overcome her bad character and become a good person. Although this is a tale for children, it deals with very serious and heart-breaking issues: losing your parents, being beaten and mistreated, poverty, death, redemption and forgiveness…
I remember how much I loved the book and this series, it is very respectful of the original story (or should I say ‘stories’ as it combines the three books in which Sophie appears), and it is visually beautiful. This is my childhood, and I wish there were more things like this on TV.
Someday, I hope to actually laugh at these comics.
but seriously fuck people who think our generation had everything handed to us. we may not be first generation college students, but we’re paying double/triple what you paid for an education of more questionable quality. i’m not saying we don’t have it better, but we’re not as lazy as you think.
plus, a college education doesn’t mean what it used to. I know people who have degrees who are still working in retail because there are too many people who are qualified for the job they want.
